Board Of Censors

2011 Board of Censors Officers

	Charles B. Rodning, M.D. President Dr. Rodning is a General Surgeon with USA Department of Surgery. He graduated from the University of Rochester, NY in 1970 and completed his residency in 1979 from the University of Minnesota. He has been a member of the Society since 1982.
	Elizabeth Manci, M.D. President-Elect Dr. Manci joined the Medical Society in 1981. She graduated from the University of Alabama College of Medicine in 1979 and did her residency at the University of South Alabama, where she is a Pediatric Pathologist.
	John R. Russell, M.D. Vice President Dr. Russell is a Radiation Oncologist with The Cancer Center of South Alabama. He graduated from the University of Texas San Antonio in 1976, interned at William Beaumont Army Medical Center, and completed his residency at the University of Florida in 1980. Dr. Russell joined the Society in 1983.
	Mary Shaffer Wells, M.D. Secretary-Treasurer Dr. Wells is a Pediatrician with IMC Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine. She is a 1992 graduate of the USA College of Medicine, and did her residency at USA Medical Center. Dr. Wells joined the Society in 1995.
	Leonard Rich, M.D. Immediate Past-President Dr. Rich is an Ophthalmologist with a sub-specialty training in Pediatric Ophthalmology with Vision Partners. He graduated from Ohio State University in 1975. His residency was completed in 1979 from the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Rich also completed a fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and has been a member of the Society since 1981.

Board of Censors 2011

	Elliot Carter, Jr., M.D. Board of Censors Dr. Carter is a Pathologist at the USA Medical Center. He graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 1995, completed his residency at USAMC, and completed a fellowship in Genitourinary Pathology at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in 1999. Dr. Carter joined the Society in 2003.
	Cyle Ferguson, Jr., M.D. Board of Censors Dr. Ferguson is an Internist specializing in Gastroenterology with Diagnostic and Medical Clinic. He graduated from Emory University in 1971, where he also did his residency and a fellowship in Gastroenterology. Dr. Ferguson has been a member of the Society since 1980.
	Norman Lichtenfeld, M.D. Board of Censors Dr. Lichtenfeld is an Orthopaedic Surgeon in private practice. He is a 1980 graduate of the University of Florida School of Medicine and did his residency at the University of South Alabama. He has been a member of the Society since 1986.
	Forrest Ringold, M.D. Board of Censors Dr. Ringold is a General Surgeon with Surgical Association of Mobile. He is a 1997 graduate of the University of South Alabama School of Medicine and did his residency at USA as well. He has been a member of the Society since 2002.
	James Courtney, M.D. Board of Censors Dr. Courtney is a Radiologist with Radiology Associates of Mobile. He is a 1993 graduate of the University of Alabama and did his residency at Baylor College of Medicine. He has been a member of the Society since 1999.
	Tim Revels, M.D. Board of Censors Dr. Revels is an Orthopaedic Surgeon with Alabama Orthopaedic Clinics. He graduated in 1993 from the University of South Alabama School of Medicine, where he also did his residency. He has been a member of the Society since 2000.

2011 Board of Health Censors

	Raymond Broughton, M.D. Board of Health Dr. Broughton is an Internal Medicine physician with Mosteller Medical Center in Bayou La Batre. He is a 1984 graduate of the University of Alabama School of Medicine at Birmingham, where he also did his residency. He joined the Society in 1988.
	Juan F. Ronderos, M.D. Board of Health Dr. Ronderos graduated from the University of South Alabama School of Medicine in 1985. He did his internship at Caraway Methodist Medical Center in Birmingham and at Tulane University. He completed a fellowship at the University of Alabama Birmingham before coming to Mobile. Dr. Ronderos is a Neurological Surgeon.
	Ronald D. Franks, M.D. Board of Health Dr. Franks is the Vice-President of Health Sciences with the University of South Alabama. The College of Medicine, College of Nursing, and College of Allied Health report to Dr. Franks. He also oversees the physician practice of 165 primary care, sub-specialty, and specialty physicians. He is a 1971 Graduate from the University of Michigan and completed his residency in 1976 from the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He joined the Society in 2007.
	Elizabeth Harper Minto, M.D. Board of Health Dr. Minto is a Neurologist with Neurology Child and Adult. She graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2003. She completed her residency from Vanderbilt University in 2004. Dr. Minto has been a member of the Society since 2007.
	F. Duncan Scott, M.D. Board of Health Dr. Scott graduated from the University of Miami in 2001. He did his residency at the University of Alabama before coming to Mobile. Dr. Scott is a Nephrologist with Nephrology Associates of Mobile and has been a member of the Society since 2008.
	George Koulianos, M.D. Board of Health Dr. Koulianos is an OB-Gyn physician with the Center for Reproductive Medicine. He is a 1985 graduate of the University of Texas. He completed a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Tulane in 1991 before moving to Mobile. He joined the Society in 1991.
